Top 10 Reasons to check out Ocean Heights Presbyterian Church?

10. What if church is like broccoli?

You know, like something that you hated as a child but you love as an adult because you eat it in ways that suit you much better. Guess what? A lot of people are having the same sort of experience with church. At OHPC things are different. Come and see.

9. We are who we are…

You are what you are…and so are we – from those who have been here for years to those who are younger finding their way back to the church, from people who have professed faith all their lives to people who are just finding words of faith for the first time. We invite you as you are.  We are committed to the core to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Also part of our core is helping to support those in need locally, nationally, and globally. We are a small community of faith with a huge heart for reaching out to others.

8. Worship with depth and beauty…

Our worship is liturgical. In other words, we create an order of worship each week designed to tell a story using scripture, music, words, silence and a bit of laughter. We need you to help tell the story.

7. No waiting!
You don’t have to join to be active. If you want to get involved, just show up. OHPC has a place for your gifts and talents.

6. One God, One Faith, One Baptism for All.

Baptism is not a Presbyterian “thing” it is a God “thing”. Baptism is a gift, a promise God gives and never takes back – no matter what you discover about yourself or what others discover about you along life’s journey.

Baptism makes us members of the “body of Christ” forever. Some of us are baptized as infants, others as adults. Some are sprinkled, others are immersed. For each of us, however, baptism is big enough to last forever. We believe that everyone – old, young, straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, physically or emotionally challenged, rich or poor, sure or unsure, lost or found, Democrat or Republican has a place in the body of Christ. Baptism is God’s welcome, God’s gift and no one can take that away from you.

5. Good News People…

We believe that No. 6 is really good news!

4. We know it's about relationships…

It’s not about commandments. It’s about relationships – even with God. The most important relationship is our relationship with God. The second most important is our relationships with the rest of the human family. In balance, these relationships produce justice amid injustice, kindness in the face of meanness, and the humility of self acceptance that comes as we sense the presence of a God who knows our inmost thoughts and loves us unconditionally – just as we are.

3. You’re invited to the dance…

Living faith is like a dancing and we all know dancing with a partner or with friends is much more enjoyable. We want to be your dance partners!

2. This is not a test…

God is not here to test you, nor are we. There are no grades, there is only love.
